Zurich, 1958. The shy teacher Ernst Ostertag falls madly in love with the vaudeville artist Röbi Rapp - and must decide between a bourgeois existence and a commitment to homosexuality. Ernst Ostertag becomes a member of the Swiss organization «The Circle» and experiences the point of culmination aas well as the decline of this unique European pioneer organization of gay emancipation. The film is based on their true story and depicts the struggle of two very different men for their love against the backdrop of a historically and politically interesting era of Swiss history.
